WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE
We are able to provide this important community service only because of your contributions and because of local partnerships. Thank you for your generosity!!
Food donations: Food contributions are always welcome, especially for particular needs. In order to best store and distribute food to our clients, please consider donating food in smaller packages (individual cans, etc.) instead of large bulk donations. Health regulations to not permit us to accept home-prepared items. Current needs: rice, tuna, canned soup, canned fruit, canned vegetables, dry & evaporated milk, pudding mix, Jello packets, baking mixes, hot chocolate, coffee, tea.
Monetary donations: We can purchase food from the Northeastern Iowa Food Bank and other partner organizations at an extremely reduced rate – up to $12 of food for every $1 donated. Please consider offering a financial gift to this ministry. Checks should be made out to “Food Pantry at FLC” and mailed or brought to First Lutheran Church, 604 W. Broadway, Decorah, IA 52101.
Volunteering: We always need more volunteers to work with clients in the afternoon – Spanish language skills are especially needed! We also have a crew of volunteers who help unload trucks and stock shelves. If you are interested in serving, please contact the church office at 563-382-2638.
Prayers: Pray for the ministry of the Food Pantry at First Lutheran Church and for those who benefit from it. Ask the Lord for insight into how we might be part of the solution to the problem of increasing hunger in the world, including Iowa. Pray that we might know the best direction forward as the need for our services continues to expand.
The Community Food Pantry at First Lutheran Church was founded in 1996 to provide food, personal care, and household supplies to a growing number of people in the community who lacked these resources. The pantry currently serves individuals and families from a wide range of counties and communities across northeastern Iowa. The Food Pantry is an Iowa non-profit corporation (501c3) under First Lutheran Church.
