Faith Formation

Adult Forum

Sundays, 9:50 – 10:45 a.m.
Fireside Room
In 2016 and 2017, we prepare for the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation (October 2017) by focusing on what it means to be a Lutheran Christian in our world. We begin a fall series entitled, “Faith and Society,” as we consider the ways that our faith encourages us to engage with the world, and especially with difficult and pressing societal issues.

  • October 2 – Faith and Society: Communion and the Common Good – On this World Communion Sunday, we explore how the Lord’s Table is not just a meal of grace, but a meal that sends us out to seek justice and serve others.
  • October 9 – Faith and Society: Faith and Politics – Especially in this particularly contentious election cycle, how can we let our faith inform and shape our political values and decisions? we welcome John Moeller as our guest presenter for this important conversation.
  • October 16 – Faith and Society: My Neighbor is a Muslim – How can we be good friends and neighbors to our Muslim brothers and sisters in a culture that encourages us to fear one another? Come to learn about the Muslim faith and to explore ways that we, as people of faith, can be peacemakers, advocates, and friends to neighbors of other faiths.
  • October 23 – Faith and Society: Spotlight on Healthcare – Jayme Nelson leads us through a discussion of our current healthcare climate, and the decisions that we make regarding healthcare for ourselves, loved ones, and society at large.
  • October 30 – NO ADULT FORUM – Join us for fellowship to greet our 10th grade students who are celebrating Affirmation of Baptism. There will be reflection questions at each table to give you an opportunity to remember and share your own confirmation experience!
